In the year 2000 Claudia Espinosa moved to New York City from Cali, Colombia. As an immigrant she had to work hard to attain her goals because of challenges she faced such as English as a second language. She became a personal trainer to support herself as a college student. In 2004, she continued her degree in psychology, which she had begun in Colombia.

Constantly striving to set new standards of personal, professional, and academic excellence, Claudia received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Forensic Psychology with magna cum laude honors from the City University of New York. She earned her second M.A. degree in Public Administration from New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Claudia also holds an Ed.M. degree in School Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

During her time as a student at NYU, Claudia developed the nonprofit organization, Latinas On the Verge of Excellence - L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program. She created L.O.V.E. with the goal to support and empower young Latinas to strive for success in school, and ultimately increase high school graduation rates, college enrollment, and to foster healthy lifestyles among young Latinas.

Claudia's education and personal skills have given her expertise as a nonprofit founder and inspiring and successful social entrepreneur. She exhibits optimism, vision, initiative, drive and persistence, risk tolerance, and resilience. Her strong interpersonal skills make her a dynamic leader, communicator and negotiator.

As an entrepreneur, Claudia has developed critical and creative thinking skills, enabling her to generate new ideas and make wise decisions about opportunities and potential projects. Problem solving is her strength. Claudia recognizes opportunities and can create a plan to act on them as they arise. Claudia constantly sets new goals, which requires effective project management skills, and a coherent and well-developed business plan. She is skilled in financial management; grant writing and fundraising; networking and developing partnerships.
